The Military Ridge State Trail Wisconsin

military ridge state trail

The Military Ridge State Trail is a 40-mile long, recreational rail trail in Wisconsin. It connects the following communities: Dodgeville Ridgeway Barneveld Blue Mounds Mount Horeb Riley Klevenville Verona Fitchburg It largely parallels U.S. Highway 18 and U.S. Highway 151 between Dodgeville and Fitchburg.

This an amazing trail that runs between Dodgeville and Fitchburg and if you are visiting Wisconsin you must visit .We enjoyed a beautiful cycle one afternoon and it was an amazing trail with lots of amazing scenery. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting some fresh air in the lungs whilst visiting the great stat of Wisconsin or for those that live there already. There are lots of tress and its mostly bush lined .Its flat for the most part so even the little ones can enjoy the trail and wont slow you down too much.

This trail overlooks streams, prairie, farmland, and is shady in many locations. It leads you to many state or county parks, Cave of the Mounds, villages, and watering holes. It’s a wonderful trail to have in the driftless area.

here are good natural prairie areas, woods, interesting towns. It’s a climb to get to Mount Horeb from the east – you can coast for about a mile on the way back, though. The part after Barneveld (going west) isn’t as interesting as the eastern portion.
